Kassie is not only an incredible doula, but truly one of the most wonderful people I have ever known. The decision to hire a doula was a bit nerve racking as my husband and I prepared for the birth of our first baby. We were worried that having someone else present might take away from the intimacy of the experience, or might make my husband feel like less of a primary support and participant, and that could not be further from what we experienced. Kassie brought indescribable comfort and confidence to both of us during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I actually do not know how we would have gotten through without her guidance. Kassie is truly incredible!! My husband and I are so grateful to have had her support with the birth of our baby girl. Kassie was recommended to us by our couples therapist and was everything we needed and then some. A true nurturer and warm presence, Kassie really held our hands and guided us through the entire pregnancy and birth process. We appreciated immediately how Kassie made the whole experience very real and human. It was, from the start, a safe space to ask questions, get honest and evidence based answers and we always left feeling more empowered and better prepared.
As the partner to the birthing person I really appreciated the detailed list of helpful items for labor, delivery, and postpartum. We needed every single thing and we’re so so grateful to have them during recovery! I learned how to best show up and support my wife during her labor and delivery and am so beyond thankful for all of Kassie’s wonderful insights and preparation help. The delivery was beautiful, Kassie made the room calm and tranquil with candles and music. The entire thing was honestly just perfect. My wife, Kassie, the medical staff were laughing between pushes and the energy in the room was palpable. Just the best experience that surpassed our wildest hopes. We were scared before we met with Kassie but walked into the hospital ready, and excited to implement everything we’d learned en route to meeting our daughter.
We were so thankful to have lactation support once our daughter was born as this was a major source of anxiety for my wife. Within 5 minutes of being born my daughter was latched on my wife’s breast with Kassie’s help. Kassie hung back after we were in the recovery room to support and provide answers to the multitudes of questions. It really just felt like we had a third parent to help get us started in the hospital.
We also really appreciated the postpartum check ins! Kassie came to our house to see how everything was going and how we were settling in. We reviewed a lot of the postpartum material that we covered with her in the birthing class (we opted in for it and I can’t recommend it enough). We are forever bonded to Kassie Leachman and are forever grateful to her!

I don’t even know where to start, because there is SO MUCH to say about our experience with Kassie. My husband and I were referred to Kassie by our couples therapist, so we already knew she was going to be wonderful. That said, we could have *never* anticipated how perfect of an experience we would have, with her help and guidance! Right off the bat, Kassie’s warm demeanor and caring attitude were so comforting. She was more than willing to answer any and all questions my husband and I had about her services (and the birth process, in general). Kassie has been an amazing doula for us. We found her from a recommendation from a friend out of a place called Family Picnic. Kassie was available to us from the time we signed on with her and still is well after the birth of our little girl who is now 6 weeks old. She has been easily reachable by text and email whenever I have questions or concerns. Even when I didn't know the questions to ask she offered amazing insights and resources. When the time came and my water broke Kassie answered her phone almost immediately even though it was almost midnight. Even though we had talked about everything previously she talked me through what I should do and allowed me to be calm and ready in the moment. In the hospital she was a crucial part of my delivery being as easy and trauma free as it was. My husband is very nervous at hospitals and around blood. I have a blood disorder which made him especially nervous of complications for me. Because of this he struggled with some parts of labor and being there for me in the ways he wished he could have. Even now 6 weeks postpartum she still reaches out periodically to check in on me and my baby girl and is totally open to answer any questions I have being a new first time mom. As someone who struggles with medical anxiety, having Kassie as a resource throughout each trimester provided me with the knowledge and reassurance I needed on many occasions. We worked with Kassie since the very beginning of my first pregnancy and honestly I don’t know what I would’ve have done without her knowledge, kindness and wisdom. I’m an anxious person who hates medical stuff so it was such a relief to have a support system in my corner that guided me gently through a process that was pretty scary for me at first.
We had a really unique situation- a move across the country halfway through my pregnancy. We were having trouble finding a provider in Chicago who would take me on after 20 weeks. Kassie assured us we would find support and even offered a list of incredible hospitals and birthing centers. One of her suggestions were the midwives at Swedish which worked with our insurance and accepted me as a patient!! I couldn’t have been happier with my midwive or this hospital.
From being available via text when I had a question to chatting on the phone when I was nervous about my 20 week ultrasound, to providing us with curated registry suggestions and acid reflux guidance - she was a huge resource and source of support throughout the pregnancy process.
When it came to my labor, Kassie prepared us with wonderful suggestions for birthing classes, and even came by our home in my 3rd trimester to talk through my birth preferences and offer more guidance. She gave me the support and confidence to have an unmedicated labor in a bathtub which I did!!! During labor she decked out the room with LED candles, scented cold towels, and all kind of tricks for breath and pain management. There was a moment I almost went for the epidural and she gently reminded me of my preferences + costs and payoffs of the epidural which allowed me to make a confident and pressure free decision and gave me the strength to keep going!
My birth was magical and I attribute the confidence and calmness I had leading up to it and during it because of Kassie’s support and presence throughout my pregnancy and birth. She even took photos of the labor and birth that documented moments I would have never seen otherwise.
Post birth Kassie visited us at our home again offering us post partum support and guidance. She has still continued to support me by checking in and providing essential resources as I navigated PPD and PPA and lots of trouble breastfeeding.
She has been right by my side the whole experience. She has gone above and beyond anything I could have imagined. Do yourself a favor and hire her right away. No matter what your circumstances or preferences she will honor you as a birthing person and that’s what matters.
